2023 Dia de Los Muertos
Oct. 22 10:00AM - 5:00PM
Experience the spirit of renewal at the annual Día de los Muertos Festival, hosted in the historic La Colonia de Eden Gardens and co-sponsored by the City of Solana Beach. This cherished event encapsulates our commitment to embracing heritage, rejoicing in the present, and embracing the future. The festival boasts traditional altars venerating ancestors, vibrant live music, enchanting Ballet Folklórico performances, engaging kids' activities, an array of culinary delights, and a diverse range of vendor merchandise. Beyond its festive ambiance, this occasion serves as our paramount fundraiser. The proceeds from this nonprofit event reverberate throughout our community, funding college scholarships, essential food distributions, initiatives honoring veterans, as well as informative youth and family conferences.
We believe honoring the memory of our ancestors from La Colonia de Eden Gardens is vital to future generations. Many of our ancestors are laid to rest at the Carmel Valley Cemetery, located behind the St. Therese of Carmel Church, off Highway 56 in Carmel Valley. The cemetery is kept up by volunteers from La Colonia and the Knights of Columbus. A fund has been established through our organization to cover the costs of materials needed for the cemetery, such as wood crosses and gravestones. If you would like to donate to this effort, please make a donation via PayPal. Thank you.
La Colonia Community Foundation hosts bi-monthly Coffee With a Cop events at La Colonia Community Center. Community members are invited to ask our police officers about their questions or concerns while enjoying a cop of coffee and slice of pan dulce.
